Kite is in private testing, and I want to hear about anything that isn’t right.

Report a bug from Kite

Shake your iPhone while you’re using Kite, or choose Report a Bug… in Settings or in the page menu. Say what happened, and Kite adds technical details and, outside private browsing, a screenshot. You can check what it includes before you send it, and if it goes straight away, Kite shows the report’s number, such as #12.

If it can’t be sent right away, Kite keeps it and tries again later, except a report from private browsing, which is never kept. What a bug report contains

Email

For anything else, or if Kite won’t open:

support@kite-browser.app

My reply will come from my personal email address.

TestFlight feedback

TestFlight’s own feedback works too: take a screenshot while you’re using Kite and send it as beta feedback. It reaches me with details about your iPhone; see what TestFlight shares.

Common questions

Can Kite be my default browser?

Not yet. iOS lets you choose only browsers Apple has approved, and Kite is waiting for that approval. Once it’s approved and a new build of Kite arrives, go to Settings › Default Browser in Kite. It opens iOS’s settings, where you can choose Kite, and then links you tap in Mail, Messages and other apps open in Kite.

A website isn’t working. Could it be Shields?

It might be. Tap Page menu (⌃) at the bottom right of the screen, then turn off Shields under Site Settings. The page reloads without blocking, and Kite remembers your choice for that site. (A choice made in a private tab is forgotten once you close your private tabs.)

If that fixes it, please report a bug with the page’s address included, so I can fix it for everyone. To turn Shields back on, use the same switch.

What does private browsing keep?

Nothing that Kite saves. Tap Private Browsing (the eyes button) on Home, or in the search field, to switch to private browsing. Private tabs stay out of your history and the archive, and their cookies and site data are kept only in memory until you choose Close All Private Tabs or Kite quits. To close them, hold Archive on Home, or use its Close All Private Tabs action with VoiceOver. The privacy policy has the details: what private browsing keeps.

How do I get new builds?

Testers install Kite with Apple’s TestFlight app, which can install new builds for you automatically. Each build works for 90 days, and new ones come out more often than that. Testing is by invitation only for now.

How do I stop shaking from opening a bug report?

In Kite, go to Settings › Feedback and turn off Shake to Report a Bug. Shaking then goes back to iOS’s Shake to Undo.

Can I delete a report I sent?

Yes. Email support@kite-browser.app with the report’s number, which Kite shows when it sends the report (“Thanks, sent as #12”). If Kite sent it later, or you don’t have the number, tell me roughly when you sent it and what it said. I’ll delete every copy, including one filed twice.

Security

If you find a security problem in Kite or on this website, please email support@kite-browser.app with “Security” in the subject line, and give me a chance to fix it before you tell others.
